Artist Bio

(b. 1991) Contemporary artist, Brianna “B.” Stewart, explores pathways to healing, identity, and equity through her Los Angeles based practice. She is a fourth-generation resident of California, in which her family settled during The Great Migration.

It is through her participation in the interrogation of origins that she is able to envision a hyper-realization of restoration and rights of passages in societies through colorfully led compositions. Each image highlights the dynamic experiences lived by peripheral perspectives.

As a self-taught artist, Stewart delivers an electric and nuanced glance at navigating inner city and rural archetypes within her interdisciplinary use of mediums. It is her lifelong commitment to see safe havens established globally, for those of the African Diaspora and allies alike. Stewart's practice ranges from visual, performance, sonic, and site-specific works.
